The City of St. John’s will be conducting a by-election in Ward 2 to replace the vacancy left by Ward 2 Councillor Hope Jamieson who resigned on August 4, 2020. As per Section 6 (2) of the Municipal Elections Act, the City is required to conduct a by-election within three months of the vacancy. Accordingly, Election Day has been confirmed as Tuesday, October 20, 2020, preceded by an Election Period beginning October 2, 2020.

The City will be using the vote by mail method to conduct the by-election. Check back regularly as we continue to update this site with important information for both voters and candidates. For your reference, the following key dates have been identified:
